BIBLIOGRAPHY: FREYA WISSING

Born to a Danish father and Brazilian mother in Rio de Janeiro, and immigrated to South Africa in 1986.

Freya attended Sandringham High School in Johannesburg, thereafter graduated in Advertising, specializing in Art Direction, followed by a post-graduate in Fine Arts at the Langeland Kunstskole in Denmark.

I have traveled extensively over the past 8 years, absorbing the culture, language, art and music of the peoples of over 40 countries.

Since childhood, I have been exposed to the creative energy of
established artists and musicians on both sides of my family, hence my
passion for painting, dancing, ballet and singing.

I have work in private collections in Los Angeles, New York, Denmark,
Florida and South Africa.

2002 - First solo exhibition at the Joao Ferreira gallery Cape Town. "I's (people eye know)"

2003 - SASOL Wax competition finalist.

2004 - Group exhibition at Art On Paper Gallery in Los Angeles. "Microscopic Love"

2006 - Second solo exhibition "Trees by Freya" at VEO contemporary gallery, Cape Town.

2006 - Commissioned and flown to paint portrait of Nelson Mandela, for Auction in Paris at Le Bal de Paris for Nelson Mandela children's fund charity event.
